'''Bashirul Haq''' (born 24 June 1942, Bhatshala, Brahmanbaria , Bangladesh) is a Bangladeshi architect +, planner and educator. He is undoubtedly one of the most critically acclaimed contemporary architect of South Asia, known for his ideological environment- responsive architectural style. Bashirul Haq was born to a respectable family in Brahmanbaria+. His father was the Deputy Collector of Sylhet district+. For the reason, Haq spent a large span of childhood there. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture from National College of Arts +, Lahore+, Pakistan + in 1964. He received ''′John Heimrich Tuition, Scholarship′'' and Teaching Assistantship at University of New Mexico +, US in 1971 and completed his Master of Architecture from the university in 1975. Fazlur Rahman Khan+, partner of SOM + requested Haq to join there. But he returned to Bangladesh and established Bashirul Haq and Associates in 1977 and started practising architecture. In 1989, he visited Massachusetts Institute of Technology + as an invited design critic. In his 45 years of professional career Haq has designed more than 300 buildings. He admits that, at his young age, the works of Alvar Aalto + inspired him most. Haq's architectural style is celebrated for holding cultural roots, respecting local context, urban sustainability and the use of natural light and air.
