Nazimgarh Resort At Sylhet

Nazimgarh Resort At Sylhet
Nazimgarh Resorts, with its luxurious settings, is emerging as the premier hotel and resort destination of Bangladesh. Its different properties in the northeast district of Sylhet offer places to stay in garden, forest and adventure locations. Built in Eco friendly environment, Nazimgarh Resorts offers more than a retreat, it offers a sanctuary amidst nature. Nazimgarh 'Garden Resort' is everything a resort should be. Set on six acres of landscaped hillside, it is a self- contained island of tranquility amidst lush green foliage. The Terrace accommodation building has twenty nine luxurious world class double rooms and six suites. All rooms having jacuzzis, balconies and sundecks, it is designed for individual and collective privacy. The hilltop Spa complex comes with a large swimming pool, children's pool, outdoor jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and massage facilities. Its different cafes and restaurants, overlooking diverse scenery, offer a wide selection of cuisine prepared by expert chefs. Well appointed rooms for board meetings, exclusive conferences, retreats and executive training, make it the ideal destination for corporations of repute. Only thirty five minutes by air and five and half hours by road from Dhaka, the Garden Resort is truly a destination for discerning travellers. 'Wilderness' is possibly one of the most unique "tropical" resorts anywhere. It is located at Lalakhal, in the north-east corner of Bangladesh, nestled at the base of the Jaintia Hills of the Indian State of Meghalaya, the last foothills of the mighty Himalayas. Lalakhal was once a part of the ancient Jaintia (Khasi) Kingdom of Jaintiapur, a portion of which, today, is Jaintiapur Upazila. The resort is in a spectacular location where a gushing mountain river with emerald green water, lush green forests, blue skies and cloud- adorned mountains all come together. One gets panoramic views of mountains, river, hills and forests stretching as far as ones eyes can see. Considering that Cherrapunji, one of the highest rainfall areas of the world, is a mere fifty aerial miles away, Lalakhal is a spectacular sight, particularly during the monsoons. Countless shades of green, yellow and brown from the trees, forests and paddy fields mesmerise the visitor. The monsoon rains are an experience rarely found anywhere else in the world. 'Wilderness' rests at the centre of all this beauty. The privacy, tranquility and the sheer quietness, where the only sounds you are likely to hear are the call of the birds and the sound of silence make 'Wilderness' not just a resort, but a sanctuary. The resort is spread over several closely grouped buildings and is centered around a blue infinity edge swimming pool and wooden pool deck. The surrounding hills and valleys are landscaped with fruit trees and flower gardens and are home to a variety of tropical birds. Walking and trekking trails, outdoor sitting areas, observation lounges and large water ponds give guests a sense of serenity in the truest sense. 'Wilderness' is approximately 45 kilometres from Sylhet City. One has to take the National Sylhet-Tamabil (N2) Highway to Shareeghat (38 kms) and then it's just another 7 kms to Lalakhal. (Sylhet Airport is an additional 15 kms from the city.) One can also take a mechanized boat from Shareeghat, The cruise up the river takes between 20 and 40 minutes, depending on the type of vessel and the season. Nazimgarh 'Nature Park' is located on the banks of the Sharee River at Lalakhal, a picturesque place at the base of the Jaintia Hills bordering the Indian State of Meghalaya. The 'Sharee' originates at a height of 1420 meters (4650 feet) from a place called Mitimyntdu, close to Jowai town of the West Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya. There, the river is known as Myntdu or "Ka Tawiarka Takam" (Our Guardian Angel) in the local Pnar (Khasi) dialect. Encircling Jowai town on three sides, the Myntdu flows south through Leshka valley to reach Borghat village within Jaintia Hills before entering Bangladesh as the 'Sharee' at Lalakhal. The river brings from the hills much sand and other minerals that give the waters a unique blue-green colour. While in the dry season the river is mild, its crystal clear water of an emerald colour, in the rainy season it become a raging torrent, at times over flowing its banks. Around 1340 AD, Ibne Battuta of Morocco, one of the gratest travelers of all time, is said to have travelled down this 'blue' river on his return journey after visiting Hazrat Shah Jalal in Sylhet. 'Nature Park' is on the banks of the river Sharee, near its sister resort 'Wilderness' which is located on the hillside. The 'River Queen' restaurant is the focal point with its panoramic view following the bend in the river. The 'Adventure Camp' tent site is nearby, under the shade of the surrounding trees. These comfortable tents give guests a sense of nature and adventure rarely available in other places. The clear night sky allows one to see stars with a clarity that needs to be experienced to be truly believed. It is Nature in its purest form.
